Throughout its history, En Foco has amassed an important collection of rarely seen photographs. This particular selection encompasses the past four decades of work created by Chicano, Mexican-American, and Mexican artists, in celebration of the bicentennial of Mexico's Independence. The show is also inspired by a larger, forthcoming and nationally traveling exhibition of the En Foco Permanent Collection curated by Elizabeth Ferrer, highlighting a complex photographic history that is largely absent from surveys of the field. This En Foco exhibition takes place simultaneously with Aperture’s Paul Strand in Mexico, a major exhibition comprised of over a hundred photographic works by Strand.

Special thanks to the contributing artists, Aperture, Canson Infinity and the National Endowment for the Arts for helping make this exhibition possible.
