Angel Chevrestt’'s series, titled A "Newyorican’s" Journey, documents his travels through Cuba, Guatemala and Mexico, depicting unique moments as they related to his experience of being “brought up in a ‘Puerto’ culture in a foreign land.” The search for his own identity offers viewers glimpses of the land and the people, finding similarities that bind all Latino cultures.
Chevrestt, a Bronx resident, is a freelance photographer, and works as an educator in the Public School system. He has taught photography at The Bronx Museum of the Arts and The Bronx River Art Center & Gallery, and photographed for El Diário La Prensa in New York City.
