"Born in Taiwan and later growing up in New York City, I learned to navigate these fast-paced worlds with both patience and attentiveness. It is with the same approach and consideration I give to my image making. In Moving Forward, Standing Still, each photograph depicts an arrangement of figures in the landscape, interacting on a stage as if for a marked occasion. As a photographer, I've become the audience to which these dynamic moments are revealed. These scenes of everyday common and not-so common cultural revelations fill the frame to reveal a glimpse of what activities people are engaging in. It is the figures' interactions with one another, with what they are doing, what they are paying attention to, and how they situate themselves within the frame that I aim my lens. The pace at which the world moves forward is quite dizzying but we each have our own time and place within it to stand still."
